MAHIN RAHMAN TAWRAT
Mahin Rahman Tawrat is the Founder and Principal Researcher of Quiesce.T and an applied housing-policy researcher and urban planner. He earned a Master of Urban Planning from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability–Economics from Purdue University Global. His research focuses on housing affordability and stability, housing conditions, eviction and displacement pressures, affordable-housing preservation, building retrofit and decarbonization, residential energy burdens, climate vulnerability, housing-assistance delivery, and geospatial policy analysis.
Through Quiesce.T, an independent public-interest research initiative, Mahin develops transparent, reproducible datasets, indices, maps, reports, and decision-support tools for U.S. housing-policy applications. His original tools include the Rent Burden Impact Index V.1, Housing Instability Priority Index, Climate-Energy Priority Index, and Civic Retrofit Intelligence. His research experience includes work with NYU Urban Lab, NYU Urban Democracy Lab, Public Citizen, The Action Lab, the Columbia University Center on Organizational Innovation, and a New York State legislative office. His objective is to give public agencies, nonprofit organizations, researchers, practitioners, and communities practical evidence for identifying concentrated housing needs and prioritizing effective interventions.
